Yuto has been named one of MIT Technology Review’s list of
Innovators Under 35 (IU35) Japan for his development of a “next-generation battery” that does not use rare materials.
Yuto was recognized at the IU35 Japan Summit in Nihonbashi, Japan on December 15, 2022, which he attended virtually.

Ric Kaner gave a talk titled “Fun with Plastics!” with polymers with a lot of fun experiments.

Professor Richard Kaner’s new bacterial resistant coating for medical devices is featured in UCLA’s student-run newspaper, the
Daily Bruin. Kaner group alumni Brian McVerry (Ph.D. ’16) and Ethan Rao (B.S. Biochemistry ’16) helped to develop the coating that is transforming the lives of patients who are required to use implantable medical devices on a long-time basis.
