Kaner group member Cheng-Wei has published the article “A Reflection on ‘Highly Dispersible Polypyrrole Nanospheres for Advanced Nanocomposite Ultrafiltration Membranes’” in Materials Horizons. The piece reviews the impacts of conjugated polymer-based water filtration membranes and highlights their significance in shaping subsequent research within the group.
Ailun (Helen) Huang and Zhiyin (Tara) Yang’s work, “A Nanoengineered Vanadium Oxide Composite as a High-Performance Anode for Aqueous Li-Ion Hybrid Batteries,” has been published in Nanoscale Horizons. The study introduces a novel synthetic strategy to fabricate a pseudocapacitive V₂O₅/graphene composite as a highly functional anode material for aqueous lithium-ion batteries.
Ric Kaner, Cheng-Wei, Zhiyin (Tara) Yang, Michelle Xie, and Joo Wan Kim visited Gahr High School in Cerritos for an outreach event, sharing their passion for chemistry and materials science with students and inspiring the next generation of scientists.
Chenxiang’s research, “Design of Efficient, Reliable, and Wide-Band Filter Electrochemical Capacitors via Matching Positive with Negative Electrodes,” has been published in Joule. The study reveals that pairing electrodes with matched fast ion-exchange kinetics and high reversibility is key to achieving high performance in high-frequency, energy-dense applications.
Yuto Katsuyama’s work, “A Rapid, Scalable Laser-Scribing Process to Prepare Si/Graphene Composites for Lithium-Ion Batteries,” has been published in Small. This study introduces a one-step laser-scribing method—completed in about three minutes and using just ≈5 W under air—to prepare Si/laser-scribed graphene (LSG) composites. Both Si nanoparticles and Si microparticles were employed, demonstrating the method’s versatility.
